Our 6th annual Shred-A-Thon was a huge success! Throughout the event, we experienced a continuous flow of vehicles and recycled a significant amount of paper and electronics.
We extend our gratitude to IRecycleHere for providing the shredding service, as well as to our other sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible:
RE/Max Professional – Dan Percefull
Palmer, Goertzel & Associated, P.C. – Tamra Palmer
Cockriel Insurance – Charlie Cockriel
Situs Enterprises – Hugo Weinberger
We sincerely thank everyone who participated in support of the Englewood Lions Club; your involvement is greatly appreciated.

People can bring their loose paper in whatever type of container is convenient for them. Boxes are easiest for us to handle, but bags, baskets, tubs, etc. are all ok. What it is important for everyone to remember is that we can only take the paper; we will return what they brought it in back to them (note: we can dispose of plastic trash bags as needed, and paper bags will just go in with the paper).
As far as what qualifies as “loose paper”, a good rule of thumb is that it is a paper product that you can tear with your own fingers.
Staples, paper clips, and binder clips are all ok and do not need to be removed. What we cannot take are plastic covers, three ring binders, leatherbound book bindings, hardbound books, cardboard, credit cards, photographs, or x-rays.
Please remind people that this is a paper shredding event, not a place to dump regular garbage.
Lastly, please follow our instructions for dumping the paper into the bins. We will direct traffic and in nearly every case do the dumping ourselves, so there is no need to jump in front of another patron and then zip away (“dump and dash”); it is a matter of courtesy, but more importantly it is a matter of personal safety as well.
